A man was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday morning after he allegedly entered the governor's residence, activating a fire alarm and hiding inside the house.

Antonie Lewis, 35, was booked into the Laramie County Detention Center, according to a news release from the Wyoming Highway Patrol. Sgt. Kyle McKay says Lewis will be charged with aggravated burglary and criminal entry.

McKay says that on March 6 at about 1:30 a.m., Lewis entered the residence of Governor Matt Mead, activated a fire alarm and hid inside the home.

Firefighters and law enforcement responded after the alarm was activated.

Lewis was found quickly and arrested without incident, McKay says. Neither the governor nor his family were harmed during the incident.

Mead reportedly expressed his gratitude for the actions of first responders.

McKay says the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation has been asked to assist with the case, and security at the governor's residence will be noticeably increased for the foreseeable future.
