The Laramie Youth Council (LYC), which, according to a press release, was founded three years ago to "increase awareness and involvement of Laramie youth in local government, community service, and relevant issues facing local youth" is hosting its inagural Pitch Day tomorrow (November 28) evening. The council is comprised of 15 members, each of whom is between the ages of 14-19 and attends school within the Albany County School District.

LYC members attend monthly meetings, and have helped advise the City of Laramie and Albany County governments on policies pertaining to issues like bullying and economic development, gone for ride alongs with members of the Laramie Police Department and Laramie Fire Department, and met Wyoming Governor Matt Mead.

For its first pitch day, the council has invited several state and local government entities, along with some non-profit organizations, to "present institutional problems, policies, or other needs that require youth-driven solutions" as noted in the press release. Each of the projects selected by the LYC will give its members the chance to work closely with government officials, help create community engagement, and start work on projects benefitting the Laramie and Albany County communities.

The Pitch Day will happen tomorrow evening in the council chambers at City Hall, starting at 6:30 p.m.
