A Laramie woman was arrested for possession Friday, Dec. 2 after a Laramie Police officer was dispatched to her house on a domestic complaint.

Melissa Mendoza, 18, was arrested after the officer noticed a baggie of suspect marijuana in her home, according to court documents. When the officer asked her about the baggie, Mendoza tried to conceal it but then admitted to the officer that she smokes marijuana by emptying tobacco out of small cigars and replacing it with marijuana.

The officer then contacted the court and discovered Mendoza had two prior convictions of possession of a controlled substance, according to the affidavit.

Mendoza’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for Dec. 16.
