The post-season has arrived for the Laramie Lady Plainsmen volleyball team, as they play in the 4A East Regional Championships Friday and Saturday in Gillette.

Laramie (20-7) needs two wins Friday to qualify for next week’s state tournament in Casper. The Lady Plainsmen enter the tournament as the third seed and will face sixth-seed Cheyenne South in their first match at 11 a.m. Friday.

Laramie head coach Rebecca Stewart their preparation isn’t much different than it’s been the last few weeks.

“We’ve been constantly improving. Getting better at the things we need to get better at, such as making too many errors; controlling our side of the court; those little things. Those are our emphases again this week… I saw some great growth these past two weeks, so that’s something I want to continue doing.”

Stewart also said being on the road isn't a big deal since the second half of their conference season was all on the road. She said it was good prep for regional and state tournament trips.

The Lady Plainsmen swept South in three sets in both matches this season. Sheridan and Cheyenne Central are also in action Friday. Two teams will advance to Saturday’s seeding bracket, where top-seed Cheyenne East and second-seed Gillette await their opponents.

Senior Sierra Titensor says it’s a matter of playing ‘their game’ and being confident.

The Laramie-South winner will play at 4:30 p.m., while the loser will play at 6:30 p.m. There’s also the possibility of playing a needed third match, which would be at 8:30 p.m. Friday. Saturday’s action begins at 10 a.m.

Laramie finished fourth at the 4A East Regional Tournament last year.
