Neither of Laramie High School’s soccer teams will play for a state championship this year, as they both lost in the semifinals Friday in Jackson.

Instead, both will play for third place Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Plainsmen lost for a third time this season to Thunder Basin, 1-0, Friday afternoon. The Bolts scored the game’s lone goal in the 54th minute of play, and Laramie couldn’t get an equalizer.

LHS will face Campbell County for the fourth time this season in the girls’ third-place match at 1 p.m. Saturday on Field 2 in Jackson.

The Plainsmen suffered a similar fate. They lost to Natrona County for the second time this season, 1-0. The Mustangs scored in the last three minutes of the first half and held off LHS the rest of the match.

Laramie’s boys will play Green River for third place at 3 p.m. on Field 2 in Jackson.
