The second half of action in the 4A East Conference begins Friday for the Laramie Lady Plainsmen and Plainsmen. They take on the South Bison in Cheyenne.

Both teams were swept by South just two weeks ago in Laramie. The Lady Plainsmen lost a tough two-point contest, while the Plainsmen fell by eight.

Laramie Lady Plainsmen

Both the Lady Plainsmen and Bison are part of a three-way tie at 1-4 in league play with Cheyenne Central.

Entering off a split against Central and No. 4 East last weekend, Laramie head coach Laura Pollard feels okay about where they are.

“We needed a game; we got the Central game. East game, we went flat the second half, but it needed to be proven to them that they can hang with the conference teams.”

As for the second meeting with South, Pollard believes they need to turn up the pressure and value the basketball.

“The first time we played them (South), we turned the ball over ourselves… We’re coming off a couple games where… (There was) only five or six turnovers a game.” Pollard added they need to continue that type of play.

Laramie (8-8) continues to be led by sophomore Lexi Pulley, who averages 10.1 points, 1.7 assists and 2.6 steals per game.

South (7-10) is led by junior Karli Noble. She is scoring 13.3 points and grabbing 4.4 rebounds per game.

Game time is at 5:30 p.m. at Bison Gym.

Laramie Plainsmen

The Plainsmen are trying to find a way to snap their four-game losing skid. Like the ladies, they are in the middle of a three-way tie at 1-4 in the 4A East Conference. Theirs is with Sheridan and Cheyenne East.

They are also trying to jump start their offense after back-to-back games with just 37 points scored in each defeat.

LHS head coach Ryan Puckett discusses adjustments from the first game to Friday’s against the Bison; where they’re at in the league; and the grind at this time of the season with KOWB’s David Settle.

Laramie (6-10) is led by senior Jake Aadland. He’s putting up 16.6 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.3 steals per game.

South (13-3, 3-2) is led by senior Isaiah Dicks. He’s pouring in 16.4 points and snagging 5.9 rebounds per game.

Game time is at 7 p.m. from Bison Gym in Cheyenne.
