A victory in the girls’ 1600 meter sprint medley relay highlighted Laramie’s performance at the Simplot Games last Thursday through Saturday in Pocatello, ID.

The Laramie Tracc Club topped the field with a winning time of 4:18.14. They bested 11 other relay teams in two heats of competition.

Another good effort was turned in with a seventh place finish in the 4x400 meter relay.

The top boy’s performance came from the 4x800 meter relay that took fifth place in 8:21.77.

Individually, Roman Smith was sixth (22.33) in the 200 meters. Tyler Dahl took 10th (51.10) in the 400 meters. Jason Upton made the finals and finished ninth (44 feet) in the triple jump.

There were a total of 23 Laramie High School student-athletes that made the trip last Thursday, Friday and Saturday to Pocatello, ID for competition.

Laramie has one final tune-up before the state meet on March 2 and 3 in Gillette. They will host the Laramie High School Indoor Track and Field Meet with limitations on entries Friday, Feb. 23 at War Memorial Fieldhouse on the UW campus. Field events start at 8:30 a.m. Track events will begin at 9:00 a.m. Nine schools are expected to attend the meet.
