The Rangers offense showed up in a doubleheader sweep of the Rawlins Generals on the road Sunday. They won both games by 11-run margins.

Laramie (4-7) won the opener 15-4 in six innings. They completed the sweep with a 14-3 victory in game two. It took only five innings.

In game one, the score was tied 1-1 through two innings of play. The Rangers broke it open with nine runs over the next two frames. Michael Schutterle and Ramon Gomez had RBI singles in the third that led to five runs. Laramie took advantage of three walks, a hit batter and a passed ball for four more runs.

After the Generals closed within 10-4, the Rangers tacked on five runs in the sixth to close it out. Schutterle had a two-run double in that inning.

Schutterle and Matt Smith led a 14-hit attack with three hits apiece. Schutterle had three RBI’s, while four other Rangers drove in two runs apiece.

Trevor Martin went five innings on the mound for the victory. He allowed four runs on five hits with two walks and eight strikeouts.

Reid Baty led the charge in game two with three hits, including a home run and five RBI’s. He had an RBI single in the first, hit a three-run homer in the second and added another RBI single in the fifth.

Logan Pickard added a pair of RBI doubles, while Smith contributed two hits and three RBI’s.

Ramon Gomez started and went three-and-two-thirds innings for the win on the mound. He gave-up two runs, one earned, on two hits. Gomez walked three and struck out three.

Laramie jumped out to a 7-0 lead after two innings and closed it out with a five-run fifth.

It’s the first time the Rangers have registered back-to-back wins this season.
