The Laramie Rangers will be at home tonight to host the Wheatland Lobos in a doubleheader at Cowboy Field.

After their last three games in Spearfish, South Dakota were scratched due to weather, the Rangers (9-14) make a quick stop at home before going to another tournament later this week in North  Platte, NE.

Laramie manager Rich Wilson admitted it was frustrating not getting to play in Spearfish.

“It’s always good competition… just the kind of quality competition we need and want. Obviously, it didn’t come out the way we wanted to.”

Wilson did say they plan to go back there next year knowing the level of competition there.

Next is a double dip versus Wheatland tonight at 5 p.m. It’ll be the first action against the Lobos this season. Laramie will return the doubleheader in Wheatland on July 1.

Wilson said he visited with Lobos manager Mick Cochran last weekend, as they were at the same tournament in Spearfish, SD.

“He said they’re really young and just trying to develop some kids. They are like us. They’re trying to support two teams, but some of their guys from their varsity go down to JV and vice versa,” said Wilson.

“He’s always got some good young arms and some solid kids in there, too. It’ll be interesting… don’t take for granted one minute that they’re going to be a push-over, because they want to come over and beat Laramie as many times as they can.”

The doubleheaders begins at 5 p.m. KOWB will be broadcasting game one of the twinbill starting at 4:45 p.m. David Settle will call the game from Cowboy Field. You can listen on  your radio at AM 1290 or on-line here or on the go with our mobile site or the radioPup app.
