The start of the 2015 high school soccer season brought about good results for both Laramie High teams Tuesday.

Both the Laramie Plainsmen and Lady Plainsmen defeated Casper Natrona County in their first game of the season.

Laramie Plainsmen

The two-time defending 4A state champion Laramie Plainsmen opened with a 3-2 overtime victory against the Mustangs in Laramie.

The game-winning goal came from sophomore Alexis Eleuterio in the 97th minute of action.

He was fed a pass from defender Eric Gunderson, who stepped up to play a ball at midfield. The ball was nearly deflected by a teammate, but avoided him and bounced past a Natrona defender. Eleuterio was able to one-time a shot past the Mustangs keeper and net the winner.

Eleuterio said of his game-winner,

"I was just trying my hardest. I've been wanting to score since last year. I've just had that anticipation... I just kept going and finally got it."

Laramie also got a goal from junior Lucas Thorsness on assist from Gunderson following a flip throw-in. The Plainsmen also took advantage of an own-goal by N-C.

Natrona scored on a free kick in the 4th minute and a penalty kick that tied the match in the 65th. That led to overtime.

Laramie Lady Plainsmen

The Laramie girls began their season on the road in Casper and came away with a dominant 6-1 victory over the Fillies.

The Lady Plainsmen got two goals from senior Ariel Romero and freshman Lexi Pulley. Paige Trent and Desiree Harvey also scored.

Laramie built a 3-0 lead by halftime and was ahead 4-0 before Natrona tallied. The Lady Plainsmen kept the pressure on and added two more tallies.
