The Laramie Firefighters Union’s largest fundraising event of the year will put money into a fund for local disaster victims.

The Laramie Fireman’s Ball will begin at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 5 at the Holiday Inn. The event will include live and silent auctions, dancing, music, and great food and drinks.

“It’s a fantastic time for everybody in the community,” says Laramie Firefighter Ben Farber.

Tickets are $25 at the door – they include dinner and entertainment. Beer mugs will be sold for $10.

Proceeds from ticket sales and the evening’s auctions will go to the Burn Out Fund, which benefits those who have been affected by tragedies such as structure fires.

“There is that gap between having a structure fire at your home and losing… everything you’ve got, and the insurance company coming the next day,” says Farber.

The Burn Out Fund is designed to bridge that gap by providing essentials that fire or disaster victims need to get through the aftermath of such an incident.

“We write them a check right there at their house after the tragedy and they can immediately go and get what they need,” says Farber. “So there’s no gap between assistance there.”

Auction items at Saturday’s ball include two guided fishing or boating trips, a custom-built Sage fly rod, a Ruger pistol, art pieces and University of Wyoming football tickets.
