It was a tough and quick end to the state volleyball tournament for both the Laramie Lady Plainsmen and Rock River Lady Longhorns.

Laramie

After a hard fought five set upset of west top seed Kelly Walsh in the first round last Thursday, Laramie was swept in their next two matches.

In the semifinals for the first time since 2011, the Lady Plainsmen matched up against Evanston for the first time this season. Laramie fell by scores of 13-25, 19-25 and 10-25.

That dropped them into the consolation portion of the bracket. The Lady Plainsmen faced Sheridan for the fifth time and lost in three. Scores of that match were 21-25, 27-29, and 19-25.

Laramie finished their season with a 15-20 overall record and one match away from the placing round at the Wyoming State High School Volleyball Championships.

Rock River

The Lady Longhorns were at the state tournament for the first time in 11 years. Unfortunately, Rock River’s stay wasn’t long.

They lost in three to eventual 1A State Champ Encampment last Thursday.

In consolation action last Friday, Rock River lost to Cokeville in three, as well. Scores were 14-25, 11-25 and 20-25.

The Lady Longhorns concluded their season at 16-10.
