Both Laramie Little League All-Star teams won their first game at the District Tournament in Torrington Monday night.

The Laramie 11-12 All-Stars beat Torrington 6-3. Brandon Chavez got the win on the mound and led the offense with two hits and an RBI.

Trailing 2-1, Laramie scored three runs in the third and took the lead for good. Tanner Schilz RBI double to right field tied it. Caleb Squires scored on a wild pitch, and then Tripp Looney’s RBI single to right scored Schilz for a 4-2 lead. Two more runs on a bases loaded walk and an RBI fielder’s choice made it 6-3 in the fourth.

Laramie also took advantage of five walks and an error by Torrington.

The 11-12 All-Stars advance in bracket play to face Newcastle at 4 p.m. Tuesday.

The Laramie 9-10 All-Stars pulled away from Torrington for a 17-5 victory.

Laramie scored 12 runs in the last three innings. That included 10 straight, which took a 7-4 lead to 17-4 in the sixth inning.

A four-run third gave the 9-10 All-Stars the lead for good. Kaige Schriner had the go-ahead RBI single.

Max Alexander led the offensive charge with three hits, which included a home run and a triple. Schriner also had three hits, including a double. TR Richardson added two hits and drove in three runs.

Laramie used six pitchers in the win.

The 9-10 All-Stars play their second game in round robin action against Gillette National, who was a 16-6 winner over Gillette American Monday. Today’s game for Laramie is at 1 p.m.
