The Laramie Lady Plainsmen were victorious in two different sports Tuesday.

The Lady Plainsmen volleyball team won their first home match in 4A East Conference action by sweeping Cheyenne South in three sets. Scores of the match were 25-22, 25-16 and 25-16.

Head coach Becky Stewart said of the win, "It's definitely a great feeling. The biggest thing I'm proud of is just how our girls played. We worked on the things we need to work on; cleaned up the unforced errors; that's what's been hurting us all season; and took care of business. We never really let them hang around longer than they should've."

Laramie (5-10, 1-2) picked up their first win since September 5th. Senior Sara Gabriel led the way with 11 kills and two services aces. Sophomore Maia Edwards added five kills and two solo block. Sophomore Shyann Bastian recorded 28 assists and three aces.

The Lady Plainsmen host Cheyenne Central Thursday at 6 p.m.

Laramie's girls swimming and diving team won a double dual against Cheyenne East and Cheyenne South at the Laramie Community Rec Center.

The scores were 128-to-45 over South and 102-to-81 over East. Laramie's dual record is now 5-2 on the season.

The Lady Plainsmen won nine events overall in the format. Senior Haley Pickard took first in the 50 freestyle and the 100 butterfly. LHS also won all three relays.

They return to action in Sheridan this weekend. Friday is a double dual against Sheridan and Kelly Walsh. Saturday is the mid-season Sheridan Invite.
