Thanks to a dominating 4-0 victory over Gillette, the Laramie Lady Plainsmen took third place at the 4A State Soccer Championships in Rock Springs.

It's the fourth straight year that the Laramie girl's have placed third.

Head coach Kim Whisenant said the match was all about,

"Trying to go out and get the win, but have fun; just develop our program a little bit; get everyone on the field and see what our future holds. I thought we did a great job of that today (Saturday)."

Senior Ariel Romero scored twice, and freshman Lexi Pulley added a goal and an assist.

Pulley tallied her 18th goal of the season in the 8th minute of action for an early 1-0 edge.

Romero added her first goal in the 11th minute off a feed by Pulley. She scored again in the 35th minute. Laramie was up 3-0 at halftime.

Freshman Courtney Hamilton scored in the 47th minute to cap the scoring.

The Lady Plainsmen finished the season with a 12-5-2 record.

Romero said, "It's been a really good season; kind of tough. We've had our ups and downs. We're a young team, but we had a lot of talent; not a lot of people thought that we would make it as far was we did."

Laramie will lose three seniors off this team, and they had as many as eight freshman on the field during the third place match according to Coach Whisenant.

"We bring all these young kids back... it's looking very bright; very positive; very exciting; so moving forward, we'll keep working and keep getting better."
