The Laramie Lady Plainsmen will have a chance to defend their state title. They defeated the South Bison 3-0 at the 4A East Regional Tournament Thursday.

Laramie (11-3) qualified for next week’s state tournament with the victory in Cheyenne.

Courtney Hamilton scored in the 23rd minute off a header from a corner kick by Madison Barrick for a 1-0 lead. That was the score at half. Early in the second, the Lady Plainsmen struck twice. Allison McElwee scored in the 45th minute off a feed from Hamilton. Then, in the 46th minute, Lexi Pulley found the back of the net. Paige Trent was credited with an assist.

Laramie head coach Kim Whisenant was happy about their win.

“I was pleased with how we moved and possessed the ball. I liked our chances at goal, as well. We just need to complete the final piece.”

Whisenant was referring to finish more of their scoring opportunities.
