Due to declining sales, retail chain Kmart will be closing at least 20 of its 942 stores across the country.

Between 2000 and 2014, revenues for the corporation have gone from $37 billion to $12.1 billion. In its most recent quarterly earnings statement, Kmart showed  a $197 million operating loss through the first three quarters of this year.

Kmart was founded in 1899 and was originally known as SS Kresge Corporation. The company changed its name to Kmart in 1962. Kmart has been operating in Laramie since 1985, and the Laramie location recently signed another 5 year lease to stay in the 3rd Street Plaza.

Kmart currently has stores open in Casper, Cheyenne, Cody, Gillette, Jackson, Riverton, Rock Springs, Sheridan and Laramie. None of the Wyoming stores will be closing at this time.
