Following his death in January, many basketball fans were hoping this would be the year Kenny Sailors finally took his rightful place in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

After all, if the inventor of shot clock is enshrined, surely the man crediting with creating the modern day jump shot deserves to be inducted.

Sadly, Sailors' supporters will have to wait at least one more year until Wyoming's greatest athlete receives the long overdue honor.

This week, the Hall announced their Class of 2016, which includes former NBA greats Shaquille O'Neal, Allen Iverson, Michigan State Coach Tom Izzo and a host of others.

Recently, a group of basketball fans and historians have launched a campaign promoting Sailor’s induction. Earlier this year, filmmakers posted a YouTube video starring legendary coaches Bobby Knight and Jud Heathcote, who are among many lobbying the hall to enshrine the Wyoming legend.

The movement has since spread to social media, with the launch of the Facebook page “Get Kenny Sailors into the Basketball Hall of Fame“.
