It was announced Thursday that Wyoming Cowgirls senior Jordan Kelley will miss the rest of the season.

An MRI confirmed the forward tore the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in her left knee Wednesday in the loss to San Diego State. Kelley will be scheduled for surgery and is expected to make a full and complete recovery.

Wyoming women’s basketball head basketball coach Joe Legerski made the announcement in a release from the University of Wyoming.

Legerski said,

“Any loss to a basketball program is magnified due to the number of players on a team. Jordan is a player that everyone wants in their program. Over her career, she has battled through a number of injuries and continued to play the game she loves. Points and rebounds can be replaced but the leadership and heart of a lion takes time.”

Kelley had started in all 11 games this season and was averaging 10.5 points and a team-leading 9.3 rebounds. Last season, she was selected the MW Newcomer of the Year after spending the two previous seasons at Washington State.
