One Laramie High School boys’ basketball player received All-State and All-Conference honors last week from the Wyoming Coaches Association.

Senior Jake Aadland was the lone representative for the Laramie Plainsmen. He was voted First-Team All-State and First-Team All-Conference by the coaches for a second consecutive year. Aadland led LHS to a fourth-place finish at the 4A State Tournament and a final record of 10-17.

Laramie head coach Ryan Puckett said it was well-deserved.

“It was nice to see that Jake molded his game into being more than just a scorer this year and the state noticed.”

Aadland led LHS in scoring at 16.6 points per game. His total of 414 points was 200 more than the next highest total on the team. Aadland shot 46 percent from the floor and 38 percent from beyond the arc. He was also the leader in steals with 49, an average of two per game. Aadland finished second in rebounding and assists, at 5.2 and 1.6 per game, respectively.

Aadland was two-year starter and three-year lettermen for the Plainsmen.

Coach Puckett added, “He meant a lot to the program this year. He has more experience at the varsity level than all of us, including myself. I felt like he really stepped up and helped his teammates through the tough and good times this season. He truly was the ultimate team player.”

Four other Plainsmen received recognition. Senior Andrew Garcia, juniors Reid Baty and Taylor Dodd and sophomore Nate Burman were named Honorable Mention All-Conference.

Garcia led LHS with 83 total assist, an average of 3.1 per game. Baty led Laramie on the glass at 5.7 per game. He had three double figure rebounding games and grabbed 154 total, which included 33 offensive boards. Burman was second in scoring at 8.2 per game. He also averaged 3.3 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game. Dodd contributed 4.1 points and four rebounds a contest.

The latter three will be returning starters for next season’s squad.
