Jackson police are investigating the death of a Teton County sheriff’s deputy found dead of a single gunshot wound at his home.

Jackson Police Lt. Bob Gilliam says the evidence so far pointed to a suicide although the investigation remained open Wednesday. He says there were no signs of foul play.

Gilliam identified the deputy as 49-year-old Edwin Fourre, of Hoback Junction.

His body was found Tuesday morning after he failed to show up for work as a bailiff for court hearings and security at the county courthouse.

Teton County Sheriff Jim Whalen asked Jackson police to conduct the investigation.
