A Jackson, Wyoming man is dead after an accident on Monday south of Jackson. 51-year-old Andrew S. Weber, was killed in the crash that happened at 6:00 p.m. on US Highway 89 approximately one mile south of Jackson.

For unknown reasons, Weber tried to cross the five lane section of US 89 while wearing dark clothing at night. A northbound SUV, driven by 47-year-old Jackson resident Richard McMullen, was bearing down, and the driver didn’t see Weber as he darted in front of the truck. The SUV struck Weber throwing him into the left hand lane of northbound US 89. After he landed, Weber was hit again by two more northbound vehicles before traffic came to a stop.

Alcohol use by Weber is being investigated as the contributing factor in this crash. US 89 was temporarily closed with traffic being detoured around the crash scene. Mr. Weber marked the 137th highway fatality in Wyoming for 2015. There were 140 fatalities during this same time period in 2014.
