A segment of Wyoming Highway 130 between Laramie and Saratoga is now closed for the season.

The highway is closed between the Green Rock Picnic Area near milepost 36, roughly eight miles above Centennial, and milepost 48 above Ryan Park.

The Wyoming Department of Transportation says that the high elevation portion of the roadway is closed in late fall each year.  Increasing snow accumulations and the relatively low amount of traffic combine to make plowing operations impractical.

Still open at the moment is Wyoming Highway 70 over Battle Pass, though it may not stay that way for long.  That stretch usually closes within days of Highway 130.

WYDOT says that each year is unique, and the department will provide an update on Highway 70 when the closure occurs.
