Prospective delegates from across the nation are submitting applications for the 51st Annual National Youth Science Camp (NYSC), scheduled in Charleston, WV, June 27-July 20, 2014.

Wyoming high school students interested in taking part in the NYSC can apply online at http://apply.nysc.org by March 1. The application process requires: a cover sheet, an application letter, a resume, a recent academic transcript, and a letter of support from a teacher or research mentor.

A team at the Wyoming Department of Education (WDE) will review the applications by March 17 and announce the honorees later in April. The WDE annually sponsors scholarships for two Wyoming students to attend the camp. The scholarship covers the cost of airfare, meals, and lodging, as well as educational and recreational programming during the approximately one month of science camp.

WDE Science Consultant Dr. Jim Verley mentioned that most students will have classes with astronauts, premier mentor teachers and others in a beautiful location. "Truly, truly a special opportunity for high school seniors to enjoy the summer after they graduate,” he added.
