The Laramie River Greenbelt Trail is now open under the Snowy Range Road.

The portion of the trail was closed to public access due to high river levels, as happens every year according to Parks and Recreation Director Paul Harrison. Other portions of the trail were closed in May due to flooding, but reopened in mid-June.

Harrison said at that time that the portion under Snowy Range Road was the first portion of the trail to close, and is generally the last portion to open to public access.

“The issue there is the trail is within the two year flood elevation. Therefore, every two years or every year the water gets up to the two year level, it’s going to go over the trail in that location,” Harrison said.

City officials say the water has now receded enough that the trail under the popular road into and out of West Laramie is now safe for public access.
