Grand Teton Road Reroute To Benefit Wildlife

JACKSON, Wyo. (AP) — Grand Teton National Park is proposing to realign portions of the Moose-Wilson Road in the park to reduce stress on an important wildlife corridor, improve traveler safety and afford motorists better views of the Tetons.

The project would move about three miles of roadway back to two-track paths that were used historically.

One section of the existing road sits in the middle one of the most wildlife-rich areas of the park.

Park spokeswoman Jackie Skaggs tells the Jackson Hole News & Guide (http://bit.ly/MjF3X5) that the proposed project is first and foremost an opportunity to protect resources and wildlife.

Park officials say the proposal is still in its early stages of design and the estimated $2.3 million cost has yet to be secured.
