Governor Mead Appoints Rob Hurless To Energy Policy Staff

Governor Matt Mead has announced  that Rob Hurless will serve as both a member of Governor Mead’s policy team and continue his role with The University of Wyoming's School of Energy Resources. The move expands a continuing partnership with the University of Wyoming’s SER. The action taken will integrate critical components of the Governor’s Office with the School of Energy Resources at UW.

The following information was obtained by a press release  from the Governor's Office.

Governor Mead stated, “The School of Energy Resources has developed a strong model of collaboration between private industry, the University of Wyoming and the State. This partnership allows us to tap into the energy expertise already in place at UW and to keep the focus there on issues that are relevant to the companies that employ so many people in Wyoming.”

Rob Hurless expressed his optimism in regards to the announcement, “I’ve found Governor Mead to be bright, witty and persistent. I am excited to work for Governor Mead on energy strategy and to work on enhancing the already strong relationship between the University of Wyoming, the School of Energy Resources and the Governor’s Office.”

According to Governor Mead by allowing the special assignment it should pay dividends for the entire state. Hurless will work along side and be a part of Governor Mead's staff.

Shawn Reese is Governor Mead’s Policy Director. He will continue to focus on state wide energy issues. Governor Mead stated,“Shawn has an impressive mind and he is engaged with energy issues, which is important because energy is the lifeblood of this state. Energy industries produce the bulk of our revenue. I want state government to support the industry to the benefit of citizens.”

“With the Governor’s addition of Rob Hurless to the staff, we will be even better positioned to add value to Wyoming’s resources and foster a culture of innovation and education,” Reese said.
