In celebration of Composting Awareness Week, The Laramie Landfill will be offering free compost on Saturday, May 16.

Albany County residents are invited to the landfill between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. to fill their trucks or other containers with free compost.

According to a City of Laramie release, composting is an effective form of waste reduction, reuse, and recycling as organic materials make up about 30% of material going to landfills. It also reduces dependence on chemical fertilizers, decreases erosion, reduces water consumption, and conserves water during extreme drought or flooding conditions.
Your yard trimmings, vegetable cuttings, bio-solids, manures and hay-shaving have all been composted at the Laramie Landfill and converted into a beneficial compost.

The city began selling compost from the Landfill in 2013.
