A suicide prevention community forum and a mental health awareness walk are two events planned in Laramie around Mental Health Awareness Month.

The forum is Thursday, May 21 at 6:30 p.m. at the Albany County School District Special Services building. It's an opportunity to learn and ask questions about community efforts to prevent suicide, the response when tragedy strikes, various community resources and more. Mental health professionals from the hospital, school district, university, crisis center, police and more will be part of the discussion.

Friday, May 29 at Deti Stadium is the Mental Health Awareness Walk and barbecue. The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. It's sponsored by the Laramie High School Hope Coalition and WellDog.

Laramie High School social worker Stacy Murphy and students Megan and Sara were guests during 'Laramie Live on KOWB' last Monday. They provided insight into the community forum, the awareness walk and discussed how students at LHS have come together this school year amidst tragedy with classmates.
