A former Laramie therapist pleaded not guilty to possession of a controlled substance Tuesday in Albany County District Court.

Scott Alan Addison, 48, is accused of possessing methandrostenolone, more commonly referred to as anabolic steroids.

According to court documents, the Laramie Police Department found the steroids when they executed a search warrant of Addison’s home on Oct. 26 in relation to sexual assault allegations. The steroids were in an unmarked medicine bottle containing heart-shaped pills.

On Feb. 16, the Laramie police received a laboratory exam report from the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation, which determined the pills were the anabolic steroid commonly referred to as Dianabol or Dbol, court documents state.

Addison waived his preliminary hearing scheduled for May 12. If convicted of the charges, Addison faces up to 5 years in prison and $10,000 in fines.

Addison pleaded not guilty to 25 felonies on March 28. Those charges include one count of sexual assault in the first degree, one count of blackmail, two counts of attempted blackmail, one count of felonious restraint and 20 counts of sexual exploitation of a child. He faces up to 275 years in prison and $200,000 in fines if convicted of those charges.

Addison is currently out on a $50,000 cash bond. Defense attorney Vaughn Neubauer asked for an extension of Addison’s curfew from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. to make it easier for him to commute to Cheyenne, where he is currently employed. District Court Judge Tori Kricken agreed to the bond modification.

Addison’s trial for the 25 felonies is set for Aug. 28 to Sept. 1. His trial for the possession charge is set for Dec. 19 and 20.
