The Wyoming State Forestry Division and the U.S. Forest Service announced Thursday that the Pine Beetle epidemic has decreased significantly. That’s according to the annual aerial forest health survey conducted in Wyoming.

For 2013, the Pine Beetle spread to only 29,000 acres specifically in the southern Wind River Range. The report also states that the outbreak levels of Spruce and Douglas-Fir Beetles remain relatively low. The Spruce Beetle expanded to 19,000 new acres in 2013. The Douglas-Fir Beetle in the same year spread to 1,000 new acres.

The Forest Service states that it will continue to take action against the Bark Beetle infestations.
