GILLETTE, Wyo. (AP) — Data shows there are more cases of influenza being reported each week across the state of Wyoming.

The data collected by the Wyoming Department of Health from Dec. 3-9 indicates there were 412 official cases, a jump from the preceding week when there were 290 cases.

The flu is concentrated in the southwest portion of the state where Sweetwater and Uinta counties each have more than 70 residents with the flu.

The Department of Health's numbers are likely lower than the disease's actual prevalence because many people don't go to the doctor for an official diagnosis.

The Department of Health estimates the season won't peak for a while, leaving time for vaccination.
