As long as teams stayed consistently good, the coaches and media consistently voted them into the top 5 of the rankings throughout the season.

In 4A, Cheyenne East has been ranked #1 in every poll since final poll of 2014. That's a run of 15 straight rankings, for the 2-time defending champs. The final rankings of the 2016 rankings are unchanged from last week, but a few votes were close. Kelly Walsh hangs onto the #2 ranking, by 1 vote ahead of #3 Gillette, and #5 Natrona just missed jumping #4 Laramie by the same margin.

The final 3A rankings had both some consistency and some change. Star Valley and Douglas are the unanimous #1 and #2. Rawlins got some much deserved attention after their big home wins last week vs. #3 Buffalo and #4 Worland. The Lady Outlaws are ranked #5, and host a regional tournament, that could see a ranked team miss out on the state tournament.

The only streak longer than Cheyenne East's...is Wright in 2A. The Lady Panthers have been ranked #1 for 19 straight rankings. Plus it's starting to look like they will go undefeated vs. 2A competition for the 2nd year in a row, but there's still the regional and state tournaments to be played. The final 2A rankings are unchanged from last week...including the tie at #4, between Sundance and Big Piney. That means Greybull and Pine Bluffs remain at #2 and #3.

The undefeated streak for #1 Encampment ended last week, but the defending champ Lady Tigers remain the top ranked team in 1A. #2 Farson-Eden might have jumped over Encampment, had they not followed up their big win, with a loss home vs. #4 Little Snake River. The 3 teams will probably meet again at the West Regional Tournament. Elsewhere, #3 Lingle-Ft. Laramie and #5 H.E.M. could cross paths in the East Regional Tournament.
