A single vehicle crash on Thursday resulted in the death of 36 year old Tyrone E. Elam of Sheridan, Wyoming. It happened at 2:20 p.m. on US Highway 14 approximately 12 miles west of Dayton, Wyoming.

Mr. Elam was driving an 18-wheeler eastbound on a downgrade section of the highway. The brakes on the semi became hot and failed. The truck overturned in a right hand curve leaving the road and slid into a rock face. Elam was dead at the scene.

Brake loss and unsafe speed are being investigated as contributing factors in this crash. The accident did cause the temporary closure of the highway. This marked the 34th highway fatality in Wyoming for 2015 compared to 33 during this time period in 2014.
