The Laramie Main Street Alliance in conjunction with the University of Wyoming Athletic department is hosting a street dance to welcome students back to Laramie.  The Downtown Mash Up will take place on Friday, September 5th from 3 p.m. to midnight at First and Grand Ave. in downtown Laramie.

There will be free kid’s games and a meet and greet with UW Athletics from 3 to 7 p.m. including face painting with UW Cheerleaders during the Farmer’s Market.

From 3 to 7 p.m. the Alibi will serve craft cocktails while the beer tent will open at 7 p.m. featuring local micro brews. Participants can also enjoy swing dancing, local food vendors and a chance to win over $2,500 in donated raffle prizes including a guitar from D&L Music, football tickets from UW, a Pandora bracelet from the Curiosity Shoppe and gift certificates from downtown businesses.

Whiskey Slaps featuring Birgit Burke and Hillary Lynn will play live on the main stage from 4 to 7 p.m. followed by the UW Pep Band and swing dance lessons. Allison Draw will provide high-energy music for the street dance from 8 to midnight.

This is the fourth year Main Street has partnered with UW to kick off the school year and UW football season.

“This is a great opportunity for UW students to discover downtown Laramie,” said Laramie Main Street Executive Director, Trey Sherwood. “We don’t just want to see the students when they come down to the bars. We want them to know as freshman that downtown is a welcoming place to study, meet new friends, listen to live music, volunteer, get a part-time job, shop and dine”.

The Downtown Mash Up is co sponsored by the Curiosity Shoppe, Premier Bone and Joint, D&L Music and White’s University Motors.

The Mash Up is a fundraiser for Laramie Main Street. Proceeds benefit mission critical expenses related to economic development and historic preservation in the historic district.
