LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) — The University of Wyoming is working with Laramie police on a proposed party registration system to try to prevent student parties off campus from getting out of hand.

Two assaults related to parties off campus drew attention last fall. One of the assaults killed a 21-year-old student from Lander.

Now, a coalition of university officials, students, city officials and law enforcement agencies says party registration is one option to keep parties under control.

Under the system, students who hold parties would register in advance and be educated about being responsible party hosts.

University Vice President of Student Affairs Sara Axelson tells the Laramie Boomerang (http://bit.ly/1umcw9Y) party registration has had an impact in other college towns.

The registration system could be in place in time for the fall semester.
