The City of Laramie Parks and Recreation Department and the Laramie Animal Welfare Society (LAWS) will be hosting their 11th annual Dog Day in the Park at Washington Park on Sunday, August 27, 2017 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The event is free and open to the public, and all friendly dogs on leashes are invited. Dogs will be allowed to play in the Washington Park wading pool. There will also be an obstacle course, free claw trimmings, free baths, and a microchip clinic run by LAWS.

The event was first held in 2006 by the University Conference office. Event organize Barbara Barnes says that her boss wanted the department to put on a community event. The university sponsored the first ever Dog Day at Washington Park, and has since turned over sponsorship.

Other vendors at the event include Gem City Vet, which provides ingredients for dog sundaes, and Black Dog Animal Rescue, which looks to provide rescue pets with forever homes.
