DNA Leads to Arrest in 2006 Powell Assault

POWELL, Wyo, (AP) Authorities say DNA testing has led to the arrest of a Worland man in connection with a 2006 Assault on a Powell woman in her apartment. The Powell Tribune reports 39-year-old Joseph A. Gould faces charges of aggravated assault and aggravated burglary. Gould was arrested Dec. 18 and ordered held on $50,000 bail. He has not entered a plea. The woman died in 2011 but police say the death wasn't related to the 2006 attack.

Charging documents say recent DNA testing on hair and other materials found at the apartment led to the arrest of Gould. The technology hadn't been available at the time of the crime.
