A handful of reports of suspicious activity around the state related to Medicaid, has the Wyoming Department of Health reminding residents to be cautious when giving out personal information.

Kim Deti, department spokesperson says in some of the reported incidents scammers made home visits, claimed to be affiliated with Medicaid, and asked for personal information, “and then there’s another set of reports where people are trying to convince folks to buy something saying that Medicaid is gonna pay for it.”

Deti cautions that Medicaid representatives rarely come to your home and will never show up unannounced.

Deti says always ask for a government-issued ID. She suggests calling the agency to verify a persons information, and when calling, dial the number in the phone book, not one given to you by the individual in question. Finally, she says, if potential criminal activity is suspected, consider calling local law enforcement.
