The Cheyenne Office of the National Weather Service has issued a statement on expected high winds in southeast Wyoming for Thursday night and Friday:

"4 AM Update for Thursday 18 January 2018: Winds are expected to increase on tonight and become strong by midnight, with wind gusts over 60 MPH possible through midday Friday for some sections along Interstate 80 between Cheyenne and Rawlins, as well as Interstate 25 from the Colorado border north to near Wheatland. The most likely areas to experience these strong winds include the Arlington and Elk Mountain areas of I-80 west of Laramie, the I-80 summit between Laramie and Cheyenne, and the Bordeaux area on I-25 between Wheatland and Chugwater, Wyoming."

Travelers are being encouraged to check the latest Wyoming road and travel information before hitting the highway in southeast Wyoming starting Thursday evening.
