UPDATE (10:48 a.m) The Westbound lanes on I-80 between Laramie and Cheyenne have opened, but conditions remain hazardous with slick spots and blowing snow. The Eastbound lanes remained closed.

A crash has forced the Wyoming Department of Transportation to close Interstate I-80 between Laramie and Cheyenne Tuesday morning.

No projected opening time was provided with the closure announcement.

Meteorologist-In-Charge Jeff Garmon of the National Weather Service in Cheyenne said that conditions are expected to improve in Southeastern Wyoming this afternoon as temperatures rise, but that travel will still be hazardous.

Garmon warned travelers against wind that will reduce visibility and create ice sheets on roads. Garmon recommended travelers give themselves plenty of time to reach their destinations and to have adequate space in between other vehicles.
