The University of Wyoming has awarded head women’s tennis coach Dean Clower with a three-year contract extension.

The extension will run through May of 2018 and includes a base salary increase of $60,000 that takes effect June 1, 2015.

Clower, who recently led the Cowgirls to a spot in the Mountain West championship match, was named the MW women’s tennis coach of the year in April.

In a release from the university, Deputy Athletics Director Matt Whisenant said, "Coach Clower and his staff have done an amazing job with the Cowgirl tennis program. It's great to see the excitement surrounding the program and the people of Wyoming getting behind these coaches and student-athletes. He is doing it the right way and has built a foundation that will enable us to continue to contend for MW Championships."

Clower is the all-time winningest coach in school history and has the most conference wins in school history. At least two individuals have earned All-Conference honors in each of his four years.

Clower said in the release, "I am very thankful to Tom (Burman), Julie (Manning), Matt (Whisenant) and the rest of the administration for the recognition I received after this past season. We love Wyoming, UW and the Laramie community, we are proud to call this place home. With the extension of my contract and the support we have received here it looks like the Clower’s will be Cowboys and Cowgirls for a long time.”
