Clara Tapia, a 5-7 guard from Barcelona, Spain, is the newest member of the Wyoming Cowgirl basketball program.

Wyoming head coach Joe Legerski made the announcement Tuesday.

Tapia was a member of Basket Almeda the past five seasons. She helped them to a pair of second place finishes twice and a fourth place effort in 2015. Her team also won the Silver Medal in the Spanish Championship of Clubs. Tapia has also played with CBF Sarria and Catalonia. The Catalonia Club won a Gold and Bronze medal in the Spanish Championship of Regions, while placing first in 2010 and second twice in the Catalonia Championships.

Legerski said in a release from the university, “The addition of Clara will add depth to our backcourt. She sees the floor extremely well and has the ability to make plays.”

The Wyoming Cowgirls open their season Friday, Nov. 11 against Chadron State.
