Cowboys Looking For A Big Break-Through [VIDEOS]

They continue to seek that elusive first victory of the season and are hoping the Homecoming game Saturday is that break-through.

The Wyoming Cowboys have seen a rough start to the 2015 college football season. A victory would cure a lot of what ails them at this time.

Wyoming (0-6, 0-2) will host the Nevada Wolfpack (3-3, 1-1) Saturday at War Memorial Stadium.

The Cowboys have some of the top players, statistically, in the Mountain West and the country. Running back Brian Hill is second in the MW and No. 10 nationally in rushing yards. He’s averaging close to 133 yards per game. Quarterback Cam Coffman continues to lead the MW in passing yards, passing touchdowns and total offense. Receiver Tanner Gentry leads the league in receiving yards per game. Teammate Jake Maulhardt is also in the top 10. Both are in the top five in receptions.

Nevada counters with a one-two punch on the ground. James Butler and Don Jackson are fourth and fifth, respectively, in the conference in rushing. Both average around 95 yards per game. Quarterback Tyler Stewart has thrown for 987 yards and eight touchdowns. His top target is Jerrico Richardson, who has 37 grabs for 388 yards and three scores. Defensively, the Wolfpack are led by Matthew Lyons with 53 total tackles, four of which are tackles for loss.

Cowboys head coach Craig Bohl knows Nevada presents challenges with their offense and defense.

Senior defensive end and Captain Eddie Yarbrough agrees. He says the Pokes are just trying to find a way to get a ‘W.’

This will be just the sixth meeting between Wyoming and Nevada on the college football field. Four of the previous five games have been decided by seven point or less. The Wolfpack leads the series 3-2. The last meeting was in 2012, a 35-28 overtime victory by Nevada.

It’s the 91st Homecoming game at UW and 66th in in War Memorial Stadium.
