Two teams that have won the Mountain Division the last two seasons of Mountain West football will square off at War Memorial Stadium in Laramie Saturday night.

Wyoming (2-2) and Boise State (2-1) meet in the conference opener for both teams. Kick-off is at 5 p.m.

The Cowboys won a wild, 30-28 game in Laramie two years ago. A game that most Wyoming fans remember as the “Safety Dance” game. Last year in Boise, the Broncos trailed UW 14-10 early in the fourth quarter but rallied and beat the Pokes, 24-14.

Prior to two years ago, Wyoming hadn’t won a game in the series, and nine of those defeats were by 10 points or more. The Cowboys know Saturday’s game won’t be easy, but they feel prepared to give the Broncos their best effort.

Seniors Austin Fort and Nico Evans, and junior Tyler Hall, who are all returning from injury to play Saturday, looked ahead to the match-up versus Boise State.

Both teams are coming off a bye week on their schedule. Wyoming used it to get healthier, while the Broncos were recovering from a 23-point loss at Oklahoma State.

Boise State had a decided edge on offense. Led by senior QB Brett Rypien, the Broncos average 46.3 points and 549.3 yards per game. Rypien is averaging 349 yards passing per game and has 10 TD passes and zero interceptions.

That will quite the challenge for the Wyoming defense that is allowing 25.5 points and 356 yards per game this season. The Cowboys’ offense got a boost with the game-winning drive versus Wofford two weeks ago. UW is looking to build on that and is averaging 19.5 points and 304 yards per game.

The Pokes and the Broncos meet for the 13th time on the football field Saturday at 5 p.m. Boise State is favored by 17 points.
