Downtown Laramie will be hosting the 2014 Cowboy State Strongman Classic Saturday, June 28 beginning at 10 a.m. on 200 block of south Second Street.

It's the first time this competition has come to the Gem City. The last two years the event has been held in Sheridan.

The Strongman Classic features five events. They are the car deadlift, keg carry, circus dumbbell, truck pull and lifting an atlas stone over a bar.

There are five different classes for those participating; women's, novice, lightweight, middleweight and heavyweight. At present time, the first place prize is $150 for each division.

Andrew Zook is the event organizer in Laramie. He joined our David Settle and Patrick Pajak on Sportsline Live last Monday night to discuss all that will take place Saturday in downtown, the history behind the event and how they're hoping to add more events around the state.
