The annual Cowboy Joe Club golf series, presented by Ford, makes its stop in Laramie Friday at Jacoby Golf Course. These events take place over a four-month stretch during the spring and summer as part of fundraising efforts by the Cowboy Joe Club.

In nine dates so far this year, the golf series is averaging around $4,000 more than in 2011, according to Cowboy Joe Club Director of Development Jeff Pivic. There were record amounts raised at the first two tournaments in Riverton and Worland last month. In fact, Pivic stated that the Riverton event on May 11, 2012 raised close to $25,000.

"The golf series has been great this year," said Pivic. "We're on great track. So far, around $125,000 has been raised to support Wyoming's student-athletes."

UW's athletic department will have a strong presence at its hometown event Friday. Wyoming Head Coaches Dave Christensen, Larry Shyatt and Joe Legerski will be in attendance, along with other head and assistant coaches at UW.

"People throughout the state love that the coaches come to them," said Pivic.

There are 70 players entered for Friday's event at Jacoby Golf Course. Tees time is at 8 a.m. Spots are still available if you're interested in playing. The cost is $125 for Cowboy Joe Club members and $150 for non-members. It includes golf, an entry gift, lunch and prizes.
