The University of Wyoming men’s basketball team will begin the 2012-13 season by hosting Fort Lewis College for an exhibition game at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 31 in Ethete, Wyo. A collaboration between the Cowboys and the Nike N7 program, the contest will be played at the Wyoming Indian High School on the Wind River Reservation.

Wyoming head coach Larry Shyatt said,

“Our program is very excited to partner with the efforts of the Nike N7 program, One of our most important goals in the upcoming years is to rebuild our strong relationship with our fan base throughout the state. This is the first step of what we hope is reaching out to all Cowboy fans in Wyoming for the seasons to come.”

Nike N7 is Nike’s commitment to bring sport and all of its benefits to Native American and Aboriginal communities across North America. The program believes that sport has the power to unleash human potential and a physically active lifestyle promotes more than exercise, according to its mission statement. Nike N7 looks to enable youth to be a force for positive change in their communities.

As part of the outreach, the Cowboys will also visit the Wyoming Indian Elementary school on the day of the game. Doors for the game open at 6 p.m. with tickets $10 for adults and $5 for children 18 and under.
