Construction Project At Table Mountain Wildlife Habitat Management Area

The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is alerting hunters of a construction project at Table Mountain Wildlife Habitat Management Area.

The Table Mountain WHMA Water Delivery Enhancement project will allow the Game and Fish Department to better apply and control available water supplies to impoundments on the property. This will provide the opportunity to develop wetland plant communities and water bird habitats that complement other water bodies found on Table Mountain WHMA.

Table Mountain WHMA is 15 miles southeast of Torrington.  The land consists mainly of grasslands, sagebrush and shrub communities with greasewood, skunkbush, sumac and saltceder.  There are plenty of hunting opportunities available at Table Mountain for pheasant, waterfowl, rabbits and doves.

While the Table Mountain WHMA remains open to hunting during the construction, hunters should be aware there is no vehicle access beyond the parking area at this time. A construction crew will be working with heavy equipment on the east side of Pond 1. The other ponds will not be affected. Hunters are cautioned to watch for heavy equipment and possible trip hazards around the construction site.

The project is in partnership with the Bureau of Land Management, Wyoming Wildlife and Natural Resource Trust, Ducks Unlimited, and the Wyoming Game and Fish Department.

Work is being completed by Paul Reed Construction and the project is expected to last until the end of October.
