The Laramie Colts played their second game of the 2012 season last night but the results were all too similar to the opener; 12 runs allowed in a losing effort.

The victor in the 12-4 game, starting their year in a completely different direction than the Colts were the Fort Collins Foxes, who have won their first three contests of the season.

The Colts were hampered early by a poor performance on the mound from starting pitcher Tyler Vail who gave up 6 earned-runs in only one and two-thirds innings pitched. Vail plays his college ball at Temple College in Texas and in 65.2 IP this season, he walked only 15 batters.  Last night, he walked five.

The performance on the hill was familiar to the combined pitching performance from the Colts' first game of the season, when they walked 7 batters and threw 5 wild pitches. Fort Collins took advantage of the Laramie throwing woes, jumping to a 8-3 lead after three innings and never looking back.

Good news on the mound for the Colts however came in the fourth inning from Isaac Diaz who pitched 5 innings of relief, striking out four and and only giving up one run.

The Colts (0-2) take the day off before having a split double header on Wednesday with a 1:00 game in Fort Collins and a 6:30 game in Cheyenne. Laramie returns home on Thursday with a 6:30 game against Casper.
